The symbol for St. Luke's Gospel is the Ox to represent Sacrifice; this is St. Luke's theme. Throughout this account of Jesus' earthly life and ministry, Luke speaks often of the anguish Jesus suffered. Perhaps the day by day life of Luke the Physician led him to feel deeply the sufferings of people, and especially of Our Lord. In the window, see the Thorns, the Garden of Gethsemane, all of Holy Week and Good Friday with crosses and suffering. Luke expresses much joy about Incarnation and Redemption, but he treats the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus in considerable depth.
